Prominent analysts believe that in 2024, we could see a decisive gear shift and a new acceleration in the development of the asset tokenization industry. One is the co-founder of SPiCE VC, Tal Elyashiv, who was interviewed for this year’s Who’s Who guide. His main argument is that the industry is now growing not only bottom-up but top-down as well, with big banks, global asset manager companies, and large institutions starting to invest heavily in tokenization.

The 2024 edition of The Who’s Who lists all the key categories of players in the industry, like exchanges, issuance platforms, custodians, law firms, and different service providers. This edition of the global guide lists more than 60 exchanges, 45 custodians, 70 law firms, 85 token issuance platforms, 110 service providers, and 55 institutions.

The Lead Editor of this year’s Who’s Who, Arnaldur Skorri Jónsson, explains:

“In most categories, we have seen a clear increase in the number of companies. Also, we are launching a new category of big companies and institutions since it’s obvious now that asset tokenization is certainly no longer just an SME or startup phenomenon. All in all, I see the development of our industry over the last year as really positive. The industry is expanding!”

In the 2023 edition of the Who’s Who Guide, The Tokenizer included a category for the NFT market. However, this year, the team decided to put this on hold until we understand the direction this market is taking. The exclusion of NFT players this year is the primary reason the total number of companies in the 2024 guide has not increased significantly from last year. The team expects to open the doors for NFT companies again next year.

The co-founder and CEO of The Tokenizer, Michael Juul Rugaard, says:

“We were surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reception of the Who’s Who in 2023. There’s no doubt that an industry guide is considered valuable to lots of people in the asset tokenization industry, and we are happy now to present the 2024 edition – and to continue publishing yearly editions of the guide going forward. At The Tokenizer, we have followed this industry from the very beginning, and we certainly feel an obligation to contribute to its further and positive development.”
