DeFi Technologies Launches Ethereum Staking ETP on London Stock Exchange

DeFi Technologies Inc., through its subsidiary Valour Inc., has introduced a new asset-backed Ethereum exchange-traded product (ETP) on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). The product, called the Valour Ethereum Physical Staking ETP (Ticker: 1VET), offers professional investors exposure to Ethereum (ETH) while providing staking rewards. This ETP is fully backed by Ethereum held in cold storage by regulated custodians.

The launch marks Valour’s entry into the UK market and expands its range of crypto-related investment products. The ETP is designed as a non-leveraged, passive investment, offering institutional investors secure access to Ethereum. It also simplifies the process of staking, which allows investors to earn rewards from their Ethereum holdings.

Olivier Roussy Newton, CEO of DeFi Technologies, noted that the new ETP provides a regulated path for institutional and professional investors in the UK to gain exposure to Ethereum through traditional investment accounts. Elaine Buehler, Valour’s Head of Product, highlighted that the product bridges traditional finance and digital assets, making it easier for institutional investors to participate in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.

The Valour Ethereum Physical Staking ETP is approved by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and listed on the LSE. It is available only to professional investors, in line with FCA guidance on crypto ETPs. The product is secured by custodial partnerships, including Copper Markets AG for custody and Blockdaemon for staking services.

The introduction of this ETP aligns with a broader trend of regulatory acceptance of digital asset products in Europe and comes as institutional interest in crypto assets continues to grow. Although retail investors in the UK are not currently eligible to invest in the product, the listing is considered a step forward for institutional crypto adoption.
