Swiss Blockchain Academy has officially launched its first-of-a-kind cantonal initiative called «SchwyzTech – Blockchain Innovation», an initiative co-funded with the Office for Economy Canton Schwyz and the Swiss Federal Government New Regional Policy (NRP 2020-2023) aimed at enabling startups and enterprises in Canton Schwyz to transform and adapt to the paradigm shift towards Digital Assets and Decentralized Finance (DeFi).
Through its “Blockchain Mindset Training” program designed for business leaders to understand how Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) will impact their businesses, Swiss Blockchain Academy enables and empowers executives and entrepreneurs to identify and unlock the value of Blockchain/DLT by breaking down its business value and highlighting the potential opportunities.
This government-backed and co-funded initiative has been designed in close consultation with representatives of Canton Schwyz and the Swiss Federal Government’s New Regional Policy (NRP 2020–2023), including other stakeholders such as Blockchain Propulsion AG, KORE Technologies AG, and the newly formed OST-Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (formerly FHS St.Gallen University of Applied Sciences) – supported by the local ecosystem such as Schwyzer Kantonalbank, Caegis AG, and Wunderraum AG.
“Our collaboration with Blockchain Propulsion and Swiss Blockchain Academy is focussed on education and empowering SMEs in Canton Schwyz to adapt and actively participate in the new digital economy, further strengthening the credentials of Canton Schwyz as a new thriving ecosystem in Digital Assets and Decentralized Finance (DeFi)”.Mathias Ulrich – Office for Economy Canton Schwyz
The SchwyzTech – Blockchain Innovation program is structured based on three phases. The first phase is focused on calibrating the right “digital mindset” and encompasses education, ideation, and raising awareness to enable enterprises to identify new potential business opportunities and to prepare their organisations for the value transformation journey in the digital economy.
The second phase includes individualised innovation workshops, business model design, blockchain frameworks, legal and regulatory matters, and the development of a “Proof-of-Concept (PoC)” to evaluate the potential monetization opportunities of integrating blockchain-powered solutions and/or alternative methods of raising capital through the tokenization process and issuance of Digital Assets.
The third and final phase is focussed on the development of a “Minimum Viable Product (MVP)” from the perspective of customers in the digital marketplace (i.e. outside-in) to achieve sustainable competitive advantage in the digital marketplace, leveraging data, innovation, and technology.
“This is another important milestone in our vision towards enabling Canton Schwyz to become the leading global jurisdiction in the area of Digital Assets and Decentralized Finance (DeFi), leveraging the collective intellectual capital of our experienced practitioners and our carefully selected ecosystem of strategic partners”.Stefan Deiss –Founder & CEO of Blockchain Propulsion and Founding Partner of Swiss Blockchain Academy
Swiss Blockchain Academy has already started onboarding the first projects to participate in the pilot program, which will run until end of 2020 and potentially continue throughout 2021-2023 as part of the Federal Government’s NRP program aimed at strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises in the Swiss Cantons, Regions, and wider Swiss economy.
