Aktionariat AG and Assetera have announced a significant milestone in the digital securities market with the listing of the DAKS Token on Assetera’s regulated trading venue. This development marks the first time a Swiss tokenized share is available for trading in the European Union and European Economic Area (EU/EEA).
The DAKS Token, issued in August 2021, represents a share of Aktionariat AG and is a pioneering tokenized asset under the Swiss Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) law. This law allows companies to issue shares on a blockchain, introducing a new era of digital securities in Switzerland. Each DAKS token is equivalent to one share of Aktionariat AG, a leading Swiss tokenization platform.
Founded in 2021, Aktionariat AG has quickly become a prominent player in the tokenization industry. It has tokenized over 70 companies, with more than 30,000 users participating in its ecosystem. The platform boasts a total market cap of CHF 400 million across its tokenized companies and has facilitated a total trading volume of CHF 50 million. Aktionariat offers a comprehensive suite of tools for tokenization, including token management, scalable shareholder relations, and portfolio management for investors. The platform also connects shareholders with issuers, streamlining communication and trading.
Assetera, one of the first regulated digital securities trading venues in the EU/EEA, operates under a license from the Austrian Financial Market Authority. The platform supports both custodial and non-custodial models and utilizes Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) for trading and settlement, employing Atomic Swaps to ensure fast and secure transactions. Assetera holds a comprehensive MiFID II license and is currently upgrading to a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license, further enhancing its regulatory compliance.
Retail and professional clients using Assetera’s platform can now invest in and trade the DAKS Token, gaining exposure to Swiss tokenized shares and benefitting from blockchain technology’s efficiency and transparency.
